In the early hours of Wednesday, an unusual series of drone attacks occurred across six Russian regions and the annexed Sevastopol, including an attack on Pskov Airport. This widespread operation marks the first of its kind since the beginning of the war, involving an unknown number of drones. Preliminary data indicates that two IL-76 military transport planes were destroyed, with four more damaged in Pskov, home to significant military facilities.

The attacks were particularly notable for their scale and the distance from which the drones were launched, highlighting Ukraine’s ability to carry out operations at substantial distances. In the context of intelligence data and support from Western allies, these strikes may signal a new phase in the use of unmanned technologies in the conflict. The Raybird UAS were mentioned in the article as being capable of flying 700 kilometers or more.
