Today, Ukraine marks Military Journalists’ Day. This is a day to highlight the work of those who operate in combat zones, document the events of the war, and tell the world about Ukraine’s fight for freedom.
This date is connected with the memory of Dmytro Labutkin, a military correspondent of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine’s broadcasting company Breeze, who was killed near Debaltseve in 2015 while carrying out his duties on the front line.
Since 2014, Ukrainian and international military journalists have been working on the front, often under shelling, gathering evidence, and documenting the war crimes committed by russian occupying forces. Their work is associated with constant risk. russia systematically commits crimes against journalists and media professionals — including attacks, unlawful detention, torture, and killings.
Despite these challenges, they continue their mission. Their work is about truth, trust, and accountability. The world sees this war through their reporting. Because of their work, Ukraine’s voice is heard globally, and propaganda cannot replace facts.
We thank everyone who works in these dangerous conditions to ensure the world knows the truth about Ukraine.
We honor and remember those who lost their lives while doing their job.
Glory to Ukraine!
