Recently in Germany, UNCREWED SKIES 2026 brought together representatives of the Bundeswehr, the defence industry, startups, and the research community to discuss the role of uncrewed systems in today’s security environment. Skyeton’s Andreas Pilz and Pavlo Shevchuk attended the event as Ukraine and Skyeton always have something to bring to the table when it comes to unmanned aerial systems and air superiority.

Panel discussions focused on the development and use of UAS across all domains of modern operations — air, land, and sea. One conclusion was clear: uncrewed systems are no longer an add-on. They are reshaping the logic of military operations, where speed, integration, and the ability to perform in real conditions are decisive.

In this context, Ukraine’s experience is not a theoretical case study, but a practical answer to questions currently being discussed worldwide. While many countries are still debating approaches, in Ukraine these solutions are already being applied in combat missions and proving their effectiveness.

That is why investment in such systems has strategic importance — not only for operational effectiveness, but also for national security and resilience. The realities of modern warfare, in which Ukraine is defending its freedom and the values of the civilized world, show that only joint solutions and coordinated international cooperation can effectively counter military threats today.

UNCREWED SKIES proved to be an important platform for open, expert dialogue. We thank the organizers for the invitation and all participants for a meaningful exchange of views and experience.
